The ridge
You come up through the village, the road keeps climbing, and then it just stops here.

Jina · Marginimea Sibiului · Transylvania
A mountain hotel at the foot of the Cindrel range, in the shepherding hills above Sibiu.
Marginimea Sibiului is a string of old shepherding villages spread along the hills. Jina is the highest of them. Above it the pastures open, the air goes clean and thin, and the hotel sits on the ridge with nothing in the way of the view.

You come up through the village, the road keeps climbing, and then it just stops here.
Marble, a double staircase, and a lobby built with more ceremony than a mountain hotel usually gets.
The big room. Weddings, christenings, the long Transylvanian kind of party that runs past sunrise.
Warm, quiet, and pointed at the hills. Breakfast is included and you will want it late.
Jacuzzi outside, spa and massage inside. Sit in it while the light goes off the Cindrel.

A terrace on the edge of the ridge, drawn before anyone poured anything.
Concrete, timber, iron. Cut into the slope so the floor sits level with the view.
Warm water to the brim, held at temperature, ready long before you walk up the stairs.
Two seats, the Cindrel range in front of you, and nobody else on the roof.

The area
Paltinis, the Sibiel glass icons, the ASTRA open air museum and the Transalpina, the highest road in the country, are all a short drive out.

The table
Local food, breakfast included, and a dining room big enough that nobody rushes you out of it.

The detail
Ironwork, marble, and a level of finish you do not expect at the end of a mountain road.
